The Guest Lecture was organized by the Medical Faculty ISM IUK for the first year students from group 1-7 on the topic “Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in everyday life”. The keynote speaker was – Dr. Jarkyn Shadymanova. The Speaker delivered the lecture along with the presentations covering the trends in information and communication and the challenges of the modern social media and marketing. She also highlighted the various scopes of ICT in the society such as education, research, communication, exploring the world etc. and introduced the concept of the Global Village. She presented her lecture in a very engaging manner with an active interaction with students. The lecture concluded with the handing a letter of thanks from the dean of the Medical Faculty Mr. Kulbatyrov Kubanycbek. The guest lecture was coordinated by Dr. Jenishkul Moldokeeva.
Information about speaker: Dr. Jarkyn Shadymanova - an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology, Bishkek Humanities University, Kyrgyzstan, a PhD in Sociology. She was a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the Sociology of Consumption and Households Group, Wageningen University (2012, 2014) and in the Department of Anthropology, University of Amsterdam (2017). Her research interests focus on: Muslim marriages in Kyrgyzstan and diversification in the higher education system in Kyrgyzstan. Within the frames of the Global Dialogues & Women’s Empowerment in Eurasian Contexts (WEF) Program, International Gender Studies, LMH, Oxford University she analyzed early marriages issues in Kyrgyzstan. She is an author of several publications in English and Russian languages including co-authored with dr. S. Amsler book chapter ‘Higher education reform and the landscape diversity of higher education institutions in the Kyrgyz Republic, 1991–2015. 25 years of transformations of higher education systems in post-Soviet countries: reform and continuity (eds.
